Team of Kaima, Jajpur walk the circle like Royal Bengal Tigers

The Season-2 of TBW Students Cricket League, popularly known as the WISCL Baja tournament has left the cricket fans of Odisha in awe. The action-packed matches take the spectators on a roller-coaster ride with each ball, and every hit making hundreds of hearts palpitate. Moving forward with all the excitement and fun, 8 league matches of Group-D were played on December 14 at the Amogha Mega Sky Box Cricket Stadium in Chhatia. 

In these league matches played between 8 teams of Group-D, team Bengal Tiger Eleven of Kaima, Jajpur won the hearts of the audience along with the matches they played. With their excellent performance, the team topped the group’s points table and made its way to the super league.

Bengal Tiger Eleven batted first in the first match and set a huge target of 212 runs against Team NSC Tigers, Baghamari, Khurda. Following which, NSC Tigers could score only 91 runs. Bengal Tiger Eleven won by a huge margin of 120 runs, and Om Sairam Behera, who had scored 110 runs for the team, became the player of the match. Electing to field first in the second match, Bengal Tiger Eleven, finished the opponent up below hundred runs. The opponent team Jai Jagannath Cricket Club, Narsinghpur, Cuttack’s innings ended in just 65 runs and the Bengal Tiger achieved the 66 runs target in just 2 overs and 4 balls without losing any wicket. 

The third match was a relief for Jay Jagannath Cricket Club, in which they won from Ananta Shayan Eleven Star, Dhenkanal by 9 wickets. Team Ananta Shayan made a good come back in the fourth match, but it was not enough. Team NSC Tigers beat them by just 3 runs.

In the fifth and sixth league matches, Team Eagle Eleven, Gopapur, Badamba lost by 8 wickets to Team Krishna Vikas Victorious, Bargarh and by 9 wickets to Team Elite Achievers, Bhatli, Bargarh respectively. Vinay Sharma and Raja Pradhan were the players of the match in these two matches. While Krishna Vikash’s Vinay scored 84 runs for his team, Elite Achievers’ Raja played a high scoring innings of 145 runs.

In the seventh match, Krishna Vikas Victorious defeated Mahavir Cricket Club of Balangir by 10 wickets, with player of the match Amarendra Kumar Singh playing the key role in team’s victory. Amarendra scored 42 runs for the team and also took 1 valuable wicket.

Mahavir Cricket Club lost again in the eight and final match of the day. This time to Elite Achievers, who beat them by a huge margin of 116 runs. Raja Pradhan of Elite Achievers scored a century (105 runs) in this match as well and became the player of the match.

Apart from the high scoring teams, Raja has also made a statement of his own as an excellent batsman. Now all eyes are set on his individual performance in the upcoming matches. Additionally, the performance of the Bengal Tiger Eleven is expected be an attraction in the Super League matches.
